CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - The Crockett Police Department officer who is accused of assaulting a person "whom he had a dating relationship" has been fired, according to the town's police chief.
"The only statement we can make at this time is that Wadell Smith was terminated for numerous violations of the Crockett Police Department's policy and procedures," said Crockett Police Chief David Cross.
Cross said that Smith was terminated on Oct. 14. He added that the Texas Rangers are still investigating the alleged assault.
Earlier this month, Wadell was placed on administrative leave after allegations surfaced that he had been involved in a "family violence assault incident with a person whom he had a dating relationship," Cross said.
