LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Halloween is coming early this year at the Ellen Trout Zoo's annual Zoo Boo event in Lufkin.

Attendees can enter in a costume contest, visit booths, and play games. Of course, there will be a lot of candy. Something new this year is a grave yard dedicated to extinct animals.

“It’s a great event for the whole family; the kids can come out and dress up and enjoy being at the zoo while enjoying trick or treating at the same time," said Whitney Lowery, the zoo's marketing director.

Zoo Boo is October 23-24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. In preparation for the event, the zoo will close at 4 p.m. on both days.

Zoo members will receive free admission. If you're not a zoo member, tickets are $2.50 for kids and $5 for adults.
