GARRISON, TX (KTRE) -

Garrison police have arrested a Louisiana couple allegedly caught driving a moving truck while having meth and a child in the truck with them Tuesday afternoon.

According to an arrest affidavit, a Garrison officer saw a moving truck headed southbound on US 59 and tried to pull them over, because he could not see the license plate. The driver tried to flee and turned on County Road 179 before a man jumped out, according to the affidavit.

The man was carrying a bag and ran away, according to the report.

The officer said a woman and a child were in the vehicle. He had them stay there and caught up to the man.

The officer reported finding four ounces of meth in the bag. He also reported that a motorcycle in the truck was reported stolen.

The officer arrested Carmita Gonzalez, 40, and Joseph Cody Taylor, 36, both of Sulphur, La.

Both are charged with state-jail felonies evading arrest, endangering a child and theft and second-degree possession of a controlled substance.
