Police Collect Fugitives And Money During Warrant Sweep

The Lufkin Police Department wrapped up another successful warrant sweep Friday.

One hundred fifty-nine people turned themselves in this week and cleared their outstanding warrants before it was too late.  Officers collected more than $13,000 in unpaid fees Friday alone.  Twenty-two arrest warrants went out that afternoon for people who owe money for outstanding fines.

City Marshal Brian Smith, said, "They can just come in here to the court and talk to the judge or talk to one of the clerks and make arrangements to pay, or they can pay it online or by mail."

You can still clear your warrant on your own to avoid getting arrested.  Call or stop by the municipal court in Lufkin City Hall Monday through Friday.
