LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - After a long battle with cancer, Jim Wark, the longtime chairman of the Angelina County Democratic Party, died Wednesday night.
"Jim and Sharon both worked hard for the principles and ideas which they believed in," stated a post on the Angelina County Democratic Party's Facebook page. "He loved his friends, he loved his family, and he loved doing work in an effort to make quality of life, liberty, and justice for all an integral part of the community he lived in. Thank you, Jim."
According to the Facebook page of Jim Wark's wife, Sharon Wark, he had just recently stepped down from his position as the chairman of the Angelina County Democratic Party. He was also involved with the Deep East Texas Council of Labor Unions. Before he retired, Jim Wark worked at Lufkin's paper mill.
