Rain causes Crockett's Fiddler Championship to move indoors

CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) -

Despite the threat of rain, the 79th annual World Championship Fiddlers Championship will take place.

Thursday afternoon, event organizers decided to move the event indoors. The event will be moved from the pavilion at Davy Crockett Memorial Park to the nearby Civic Center.

Friday night the lights will be on at the pavilions for anyone wanting to jam," Festival Chairman Charles Arnold said. "The festival will be held in the civic center on Saturday beginning at nine a.m., the agenda for the day remains the same. So rain or shine the Festival is going on."

The even will still be free for anyone wanting to attend. Pipp Gillette and Glenn Barnhart will be this year's Masters of Ceremonies. Jim "Texas Shorty" Chancellor, Matthew Hartz and Wes Westmoreland will judge the fiddle competition.
