LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin should beware because zombies are dragging their way to town! It's for a special cause! Lufkin Middle School is putting on the "Zombie Walk." This event will be a thriller.
No one's going to save you from these beasts about to strike.
"It's a little bit of fun for everybody, and they can find something that they enjoy doing," said Teresa Ragland, Lufkin Middle School's theater teacher.
Well, they are not quite beasts. The walk is a canned-good benefit.
"We just have it to where people just bring canned goods. It's all to benefit the pantries at the Crisis Center and their SAAFE houses," Ragland said.
The theater department is preparing their monster makeup and tattered attire. Ragland said zombies of all ages are invited to roam Saturday night.
"Even if it's not your thing, there is something that you can do that does help out the community," Ragland said.
If it is your thing, the students have advice on making the most of the madness. An example is the petrifying face makeup.
"You don't have to spend a lot of money to do it. You can use the items you have at home," Ragland said. "Oatmeal, Elmer's glue, and toilet paper is your friend."
They also know where to find the right clothes to sport at this zombie apocalypse.
"You have the Family Crisis Center, Salvation Army, Goodwill, any of those," Ragland said.
The zombie walk will end with a flash mob to "Monster Mash."
"It doesn't have to be perfect. Zombies don't have a lot of fine motor control!" Ragland said.
It's okay if you don't have '"Thriller" moves.
"It's a way to have fun, raise awareness, or gather something for that charitable cause," Ragland said.
Ragland said if the weather does not permit the zombie walk, it will be re-scheduled to November 14th.
