ZAVALLA, TX (KTRE) - Like several schools around East Texas, Zavalla Elementary is celebrating Red Ribbon Week.
The students have a different theme each day that they dress up for. Tuesday's theme was "Too Bright For Drugs" where they wore neon and sunglasses.
Red Ribbon Week serves as a way to teach school kids the dangers of drugs. The students made posters and shared important information they've been learning.
"I learned that we need to be drug free," said Zavalla fifth grader Kennady Mann. "Don't do drugs because they can hurt you."
The week continues through Friday where the Zavalla students will be having a parade where they dress as characters from their favorite books.
