Nacogdoches nursing home hosts puppy Halloween costume contest

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches nursing home hopped into the Halloween spirit with an intense costume party, but the contestants were four-legged.

It was the night to rip the runway with Halloween costumes at Westward Trails, but the models were a little bit out of the norm.

"She is a little witch. She's a Yorkie, and her name is Gypsie," said Delta Williamson, a contestant's owner. "It felt really good to be able to see the residents smile and to actually make them happy."

There was the pumpkin pooch,  a Nacogdoches ball player, the wiener dog, and even a cow canine.

"Oh they're precious!" said a Westward Trails resident.

"I loved them all," said Louvenia Johnson, a Westward Trails resident.

One pup is always himself unless he can be Batman. There was also  Elvis Presley with a chain and all.

Everyone got to vote for their favorite costume. Gypsie came as a witch and Pip showed up as a dinosaur.

"They have a reaction of 'Oh my gosh they're so cute!' They warm your heart," Williamson said.

The Westward Trail residents had their fury favorites too.

"They were all beautiful. I really enjoyed it," Johnson said.

They chose the pumpkin pooch as the overall winner, so for him there were no tricks, but treats!
