The Tenaha Tigers breezed through their district with a 5-0 finish and the district crown after beating Mt. Enterprise 54-8 Thursday night.
The Tigers jumped on the Wildcats quick with a 7-0 lead, before CJ Horn connected with Trai Gardner soon after for a 30-yard touchdown.
Next drive Tenaha moved up field and then finished it off with a 1-yard touchdown when Horn pitched the ball up the middle to Jay Lloyd for the carry. Tenaha missed the extra point but ended the first quarter with a 20-0 lead.
Opening the second quarter, Horn scrambled out wide where he hit Colton Goeke for a 47-yard touchdown. That’s all it took to soon knock with wind out of the Wildcats’ sails.
The Tigers 5-0 finish is impressive considering the slow start they had to this year’s campaign. Tenaha had a 0-5 record entering the district season, but once Tenaha got their first win of the season in the district opener against Maud 47-13, the rest was history.
From there the Tigers outscored their district opponents 172-41, not including the forfeit against Fruitvale.
