Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week: Coin-operated burglars

From Deep East Texas Crime Stoppers

LUFKIN, TX - Vending machines are a convenience many of us enjoy but they also are convenient targets for burglars.  The cash inside vending machines at a gas station in Diboll was the focus of a man and a woman early on a Sunday in October.

Cameras at the station witnessed the pair arrive a few minutes after 1:00 AM and leave about ten minutes later.  They were in a truck with the man driving but the woman stood guard at the driver's side of the truck while the man forced open the vending machines. After damaging two machines and gaining access to one, the criminals drove to another location at the same business and burglarized two more machines.  Cash and coin boxes were stolen from the machines.

The man and woman appear to be white.  The man has dark, short cut hair and the woman has dark hair wore in a ponytail.  Their vehicle is a dark red, late model, four-door Dodge truck with painted bumpers and grill.

Portions of the security videos are posted online at and

Investigators have not identified the criminals responsible for burglarizing these coin-operated machines.  At this point, a connection between this case and similar crimes cannot be established but the crime, suspects, and vehicle type seem to match a case that Crime Stoppers publicized October 19.  That crime occurred at Lufkin PD's gun range hours prior to the Diboll burglaries and video of the male suspect is also available at
