LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Actress Clare Bowen is turning heads on social media -- thanks to her new 'do.'
The "Nashville" star shocked her fans with the picture of her short haircut that has a huge message.
The picture posted to the star's Facebook page was followed by a caption in which Bowen explained her battle with end-stage Nephroblastoma at the young age of 4.
"I'd overheard the doctors telling my family that the only hope of saving me, was an experimental treatment that might kill me anyway. But without it I had maybe two weeks left," Bowen writes.
The drug miraculously saved her life.
The photo was also a response to a fan, who confessed to the star that she didn't think she could be a princess because of her short hair.
"I look relatively normal on the outside, but on the inside, I am still the same stitched back together little creature, in a world where people are judged so harshly for the way they look," Bowen explained.
She wanted the little girl and all those like her, to know that hair is not what makes a princess, a warrior, or a superhero.
"You are who you are in your bones. That is where you have the potential to shine the brightest from. It is where your true beautiful self lives," writes Bowen.
The Facebook post has been viewed over a million times, and that number continues to grow as this special message of self love and inspiration reminds us all that,
"Every scar tells a story, every baldhead, every dark circle, every prosthetic limb, and every reflection in a mirror… If [this] makes even one person think twice about judging another, then in some small way, the world is better," writes Bowen.
