NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - We are one day out from SFA men's basketball opening their season against the No. 22 ranked Baylor Bears.
When facing these big teams in the past, especially during the NCAA Tournament, the Lumberjacks have lacked in size.
This year, they've boosted they're heighth and athleticism. Most of that addition length comes from the incoming freshmen. However, head coach Brad Underwood said he's expecting to utilize those young guys and we'll see that heighth this year.
"We felt very excited about when we recruited those young men. We thought they'd be able to help us and do that as freshmen," said Underwood. "There's tremendous growing that has to go on. One of the biggest discrepancies in the sport is an 18-year-old freshmen going against a 22-year-old senior. But they're very talented. They're very skilled. They'll help us."
Last year SFA lost to Baylor 67-51, but it's round two Friday night in Waco starting at 8:30 p.m.
