ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina County Republican Party has appointed an interim chairman, Donald Baum.
Baum will take over for Bob Flournoy, who resigned after over a decade as chairman. Baum does come with experience. He served as the Republican Party Chairman in San Augustine for six years.
He says the next generation of voters will be his focus this up-coming presidential election year.
"One of my goals, which I think we can achieve, is trying to get more young people involved in the electoral process. A lot of them don't know what's going on when election comes around. I'd like to get them at least registered to vote," Baum said. "It's a right we have that I don't take lightly."
Baum will be on the GOP primary ballot on March 1st to make his chairman position official.
Flournoy has not yet commented on the reason for his resignation.
