Blood Drive For Injured Officer

A blood drive was held Wednesday in Nacogdoches for Smith County Deputy Sherman Dollison, who was critically injured during a shootout on the courthouse steps last week.

Many of the donors don't know Dollison, but they're all part of the strong bond among people in law enforcement. The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Department hosted the blood drive, but they want to make it clear that anyone can donate to the cause.

Blood Center drive organizer Linda Warner said, "If you didn't get a chance to come out here today, you can come into the blood center over on North University Drive and still do a replacement drive for that officer. Just come in and make sure you tell the receptionist that you're there to do a replacement credit for him."

Any blood donation in behalf of Dollison will help the family out financially. Dollison remains in critical condition.
