LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Volunteers from the Christian Information and Service Center in Lufkin are used to serving the needy, but Wednesday they were the ones being served.
The CISC Board of Directors partnered with United Health Care Ministerial Alliance, Grandough Baking Company, Candi' Cakes & Deli, and Cigna Health Springs, to put on the first annual Volunteer Harvest Luncheon.
The hardworking volunteers were grateful for the lunch and even went around the room sharing how much being able to serve those in need meant to them.
"It just kind of made you feel warm all over," said CISC Executive Director Yulonda Richard. "I mean they really feel that way. They come in here smiling every time they come. They mean it from their hearts and it just touched me."
Since the event was so well received, CISC hopes they can partner with sponsors again next year and make the luncheon an annual event.
