HOUSTON, TX (KTRE) - Quarterback T.J. Yates was able to help lead the Houston Texans to a win against the formally undefeated Cincinnati Bengals, and they're banking on him to help get a victory against the New York Jets next. Yates will be the starting quarterback on Sunday.
Former starting quarterback Brian Hoyer went down against the Bengals with concussion symptoms and has yet cleared the NFL's concussion testing protocol.
The Texans also acquired some backup, for their backup, quarterback Brandon Weeden. Houston picked Weeden up off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys a day after he was released from the team with Tony Romo's return.
The Texans will host the New York Jets on Sunday starting at noon. Former Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will return to Houston for the first time since joining the Jets.
