Jeremy Batten is a highly decorated high jumper for Huntington who will take his talents to Stephen F. Austin next fall.
The senior has been jumping for five years. Batten placed first in all five of his pre-district meets last year. He finished the season as the district champion and Huntington Track MVP. As a junior, Batten was named the area champion, regional champion and made a trip to state where he placed 7th at the meet.
“I picked SFA because they have a great track program, it was close to home and I already knew coach McCown. I had chances to go to other places but I wanted to stay close to home,” said Batten. “I look forward to being able to compete at the D1 level and go against other great athletes.”
Batten said he plans on studying kinesiology so can pursue a career coaching football and track.
