DPS identifies horseback riders struck by vehicle Saturday night

ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Angelina County DPS Troopers have identified two horseback riders who were struck by a car Saturday night.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that the horse 19-year-old Jamari Hodges and 11-year-old Keon Taylor, of Lufkin, were both riding, was struck by a 2007-2011 silver Toyota Camry that fled the scene.

Hodges was reportedly treated at the scene and released. Taylor was transported to Hermann Hospital in Houston, and is in stable condition according to family members.

Troopers have not yet located the driver or the vehicle, which fled the scene southbound on FM 2251 with damage to the front portion of the vehicle. Anyone with information should contact Lufkin DPS Communications at 936-699-7340.
