LUFKIN, TX (AP) -

Lorraine Simoneau, the director of Kurth Memorial Library, has been named the parade marshal of this year's Lufkin Christmas Parade.

According to the parade committee, with the theme of this year's parade being 'Stories of Christmas,' Simoneau was the ideal candidate.

Simoneau was also awarded the honor due to her and the library's strong involvement in the community.

"She and her staff at the library are awesome,” said Main Street Director Barbara Thompson. “They participate in so many things we have in our community. They make the community a better place.”

The Main Street Christmas Parade takes places next Monday, November 30 beginning at 6 p.m. at the corner of North First Street and Paul Avenue.
