SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A one-vehicle accident on State Highway 7 about a mile and a half east of Martinsville early Friday morning claimed the life of a 32-year-old man and seriously injured another man.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Shelby County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Maxey Eaves pronounced Jamie Pena-Lobato, the driver of the vehicle, dead at the scene at 3:10 a.m. Friday. Pena-Lobato was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Passenger Vicente Fernandez was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. He was taken to the University of Texas at Tyler hospital for incapacitating injuries and is in critical condition.
According to the preliminary accident report, Pena-Lobata was driving a 2007 Chevrolet ML eastbound on SH 7 when his vehicle left the road and struck a tree.
