NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Resilient Nacogdoches held a dedication for the Childrens Gardens at Thomas J. Rusk Elementary on Sunday.

The environmental group, also known as ReNac, has been looking for a project that would make a positive impact on their community.

I noticed the gardening programs at some of the schools have been in need of help, said ReNac member Kerry Lemon. Some of these gardens had been started but they werent really being kept up."

ReNac starting reviving the garden at TJR one month ago. They said the garden is not completed, but has come long way.

ReNac said the garden will be complete by spring, just in time to start planting. They said they hope the garden will help teach children how things grow and where their food comes from.

ReNac is planning to revive other gardens at schools in the Nacogdoches area in the future.
