NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

The Nacogdoches Downtown Lighted Christmas Parade is just days away.

Parade goers should expect lots of lighted floats, even fireworks, as they're accustomed to seeing each year.

Behind the scenes there are a few changes.

This is the first year the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau has turned over the parade reins to the Nacogdoches County United Way. The agency welcomes the responsibility.

"I think this community does need this parade because the parade is all about showcasing the history of Nacogdoches and the Christmas spirit and bringing us all together to celebrate the joy of the season,” said Caroline Garner. “What better mission for the United Way to take on in the holiday."

The Nacogdoches Lighted Christmas Parade gets underway at 6:30 Saturday night. Fireworks will follow right after you see Santa go by.
