LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin High School's culinary students took their skills to the next level with the annual Cupcake Wars competition.
The students were put into pairs, and over three days, baked cupcakes and designed an interesting way to present them to three faculty judges. Bragging rights were the only thing on the line. For the bakers, the idea was harder than the finished product.
"The decorating wasn't that hard, but putting the stand together was the most challenging," said senior Kylie Griggs.
The event was also attended by the photography students who set up portrait shoots for the edible treats.
The winners of this years competition were in 2nd period, the gingerbread man cupcake: Kitchen 1, Katelyn Anderson and Kylie Briggs; 4th period, Christmas gift cupcake: Kitchen 1 Haley Carlile, Clarissa Garcia and I'Ycess Gold.
