LUFKIN, TX (News Release) - From Deep East Texas Crime Stoppers
We all know that we when parking our cars, no matter how long we expect to be away, we should lock the doors and remove anything we value, but failing to do so does not give the thieves among us the right to take what we work so hard to obtain. Be it a sense of entitlement or a lack of conscience, there are people who will steal without the slightest concern for how we will be affected.
This week's Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week video is from outside a residence on East Polk Avenue in Lufkin and shows a thief burglarizing vehicles. A family had returned from church and were resting inside their home when the thief decided to make them victims. The criminal entered the family's van and truck, taking a pack of cigarettes from the van and and more than $200 in cash and coins from the truck.
The black male burglar was wearing a dark-colored hoodie and pants, and white tennis shoes, and he had a crew-cut or flat-top hairstyle. He was walking from North First Street to North Angelina Street when he crossed the victims' property and found the vehicles. Him being on foot and being comfortable cutting across the property might indicate that he lives in or frequents the area, and that increases the likelihood that someone will be able to identify him.
