LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin ISD took time to stop and show appreciation to crossing guards in the district.
Faculty, staff, and parents gathered at the administration building to thank the people who guide their children every day, monitor their safety, and greet them with smiles.
Some of the crossing guards have been getting the kiddos to school safely for over twenty years.
Joe Elliot celebrated his 30th anniversary today, and says he's not done.
"I'm going to try to go another 30 years. I'll only be 115 when that's over with!" said Joe Elliott, a Lufkin ISD crossing guard.
Once the students found out the crossing guards would be honored, they made baggies with letters and treats to show just how much they appreciate them.
