Search for stolen property leads to Crockett drug bust

CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - A 21-year-old man Crockett man was arrested Friday after a search for stolen property turned into a large drug bust.

Ylanz Delane Baker was at his residence in the 800 block of Cedar Street when officers learned that the residence may have stolen property inside.

According to a press release from the Crockett Police Department, once officers announced themselves at the residence they heard shuffling. Officers watching the rear of the home noticed Baker moving items into a bedroom.Officers grew suspicious and obtained a search warrant.

Police said they found 43.49 grams of Cocaine, 65.24 grams of Crack Cocaine, 50.66 grams of PCP (Phencyclidine), 1.93 grams of Xanax, .61 grams of Ecstasy, and .044oz of Marijuana.

In addition to the drugs officers found a large amount of money they suspect is related to drug sales.

Baker is being held on a $174,000 bond.

At the time Baker was out on bond for multiple felony offenses that he has been charged with over the last several months.

Back in March Baker was indicted on two felony charges, attempted capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, in connection to allegations that he fired several shots at a man and a woman in a park back in February.

At the time, the woman was holding a 9-month-old baby in her arms.
