Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week: Lone Star fraud

LUFKIN, TX (News Release) - From Deep East Texas Crime Stoppers

Deep East Texas Crime Stoppers is trying to identify a woman who was captured on video using a stolen Lone Star Card at Walmart in Lufkin.

According to store employees, the video shows the suspect using the stolen card to purchase a shopping cart full of food that should have cost her nearly $200. The victim reported that the card was also fraudulently used at two other grocery stores in Lufkin after her purse was stolen and the thief used the victim's driver's license and social security card to change the PIN for the Lone Star Card.

The pink and grey Vera Bradley purse was stolen from the victim's vehicle in September, possible from the Bryce Road area just north of Lufkin. The victim is most concerned over the loss of her permanent resident immigration card because of the time and cost involved in replacing it, and because she is unable to travel to visit her family without it.

The black female shown in the video had blonde hair, or was wearing a blonde wig, and wore white wireless headphones around her neck. Although the quality of the video is low, the suspect's appearance is unique and someone will recognize her and will want to collect a reward for providing information that helps investigators put her in jail.

If you can identify the suspect, call Deep East Texas Crime Stoppers at (936) 639-TIPS or submit a tip online at  Crime Stoppers calls and tips are anonymous and Crime Stoppers may pay a reward for information that leads to an arrest.
