HOUSTON, TX (KTRE) - According to the Houston Texans official website, Brian Hoyer suffered a concussion in Sunday's 27-6 loss against the Patriots. This is now the second concussion for Hoyer this year.
The quarterback left the field early after being sacked in the fourth quarter, but all game Hoyer took a beating. The 30-year-old also suffered a neck strain and is dealing with a wrist injury.
Hoyer is on the concussion protocol and if he can't play Sunday T.J. Yates will get the starting job.
Yates started earlier this year against the Jets and helped lead the Texans to a 24-17 victory. That start followed after Hoyer's first concussion of the season. Yates finished 16-of-34 passes for 229 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
The Texans will play the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday starting at noon. With three games remaining in the season, both teams are in contention for a AFC South division title.
