NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - We have a quick update to the efforts by Supporters of Nacogdoches ISD to raise money and supplies for teacher's needs.
The East Texas Historical Association was awarded a $10,000 community grant to support the cause. It comes from Bank of America.
"We titled the grant, 'Filling in the Gaps,' and the idea was if we got it, we could go directly to the teachers in their classroom and say, 'What do you need,' and we can buy those for them," said Scott Sosebee, the director of the East Texas Historical Association. "That became also for Supporter of NISD after the failed bond election, began to also focus on it, so it was serendipitous that we were able to come together and do this. I think it will have a big effect."
Donations of teacher needs can still be made individually by going to the Supporters of Nacogdoches ISD Facebook page.
