HOUSTON, TX (KTRE) - The Houston Texans made the decision Wednesday that quarterback Brian Hoyer will not play against the Indianapolis Colts after he suffered his second concussion of the season against the New England Patriots. T.J. Yates will get the starting job on Sunday.
Yates started earlier this year against the New York Jets after Hoyer suffered his first concussion of the year. Yates pulled off a 24-17 win. The quarterback also played in the third and fourth quarters against Cincinnati, where he helped serve the Bengals their first loss of the season.
This will be Yates seventh start in his five years in the league.
Yates signed with the Texans on October 28th of this year, but was also in Houston back in 2011. Yates started a Lucas Oil Stadium, where the Texans are headed Sunday, back in 2011 when they lost to the Colts.
Sunday's game in Indianapolis will start at noon.
