ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Central ISD officials put its high school and middle school campuses on lockdown as a precaution after a man walked on US 69 with a rifle Wednesday morning.
According to the school's Facebook page, the school received a report of a man with a 22-caliber rifle walking along US 69 with a woman and baby near the secondary campuses.
Officials put the campuses on lockdown. A school police officer talked to the man and Angelina County deputies arrived to detain him.
The man said he was just taking the rifle back to his mother's house.
Sheriff Greg Sanches said the man was released.
