Apple Springs Principal's Contract Declared Null And Void

Concern about the qualifications of an East Texas principal meant a standing room only crowd Monday night at the school board meeting in Apple Springs.

Many people showed up to find out what action if any the board would take concerning principal Howard Powers.

It was recently discovered that Powers does not have the required certification to be employed as a principal for the district.

Monday, the school district's attorney told the board because of that, Power's contract is now null and void.

Superintendent Gregg Spivey tells us although Powers passed his required courses and exit exam, he never received a mid-management certificate.
