NACOGDOCHES, TX (Press Release)- For the second-straight year, Stephen F. Austin head men’s basketball coach Brad Underwood has been chosen to participate in the Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge. The ‘Jacks third-year bench boss aims to capture the ultimate prize of $100,000 for the Nacogdoches Area United Way.
The competition, which begins on Monday, January 4, 2016, will be fueled entirely by fan voting. Once the Charity Challenge officially commences, all fans are encouraged to vote once per day. All information regarding the voting process and the date and time cutoffs for each voting round will be released on SFAJacks.com and on all of the ‘Jacks social media channels on January 4.
Underwood is one of 48 NCAA Division I men’s basketball coaches from around the nation who will be taking part in the fan-vote challenge. The program, sponsored by luxury automobile manufacturer Infiniti, in partnership with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the NCAA and ESPN, benefits the coaches' favorite charity. Infiniti will donate at least $1,000 to each participating coach, and will award $100,000 to the coach who receives the most fan votes over a 10-week period that ends on March 13.
One season ago, Underwood finished in seventh place at the conclusion of the Challenge and raised $10,000 for the Nacogdoches Area United Way.
