Childhood Obesity Growing Fast In Rural Areas

Childhood obesity continues to be a growing problem. It is one that needs to be stopped at an early age. Now, research shows that child obesity grows faster in rural areas.

Lisa King, the director of the Right Step Daycare, said she makes sure her kids get enough exercise. They are motivated and like to be active.

She blames childhood obesity on children relying too much on video games for entertainment and not participating in enough activities.

King said, "Parents need to get their kids involved in activities early. You can start kids at gymnastics as early as three. It is even better if the whole family does things together like ride bikes and skating."

King said you also need to make sure children beginning eating healthy at a young age.
