The City of Alto has issued a boil-water notice for customers in the town's northwest quadrant.

Customers in the area from State Highway 21 to the northwest city limits are urged to boil their water prior to consumption until further notice.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water for some other suitable source.

It's the 69th year the fair has been held, but this is the first time for the salsa, jam, and jellies competition. Many who entered say they were torn between green or red. "I think it's a lot of fun because some kids don't like to bake but there's lots of different aspects of cooking and so salsa and jam and jellies is kind of a loss art," said Kate Rudasill, a j...
