NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office arrested a 41-year-old Lufkin man on a meth-related drug charge Thursday night after a traffic stop on U.S. 59 South.
Ronald Edward Dempsey is still being held in the Nacogdoches County jail on a first-degree felony manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance between 4 and 200 grams. No bail amount has been set at this time.
Nacogdoches County Sheriff Jason Bridges said that his deputies made a traffic stop on Dempsey's vehicle on Highway 59 South Thursday night, and Dempsey started acting suspicious and giving conflicting stories.
A probable-cause search of Dempsey's vehicle turned up about 15 grams of methamphetamine, Bridges said. The sheriff said Dempsey told his deputies that he was delivering the meth to someone in Nacogdoches.
Dempsey was arrested at the scene and taken to the county jail.
