The Texas Department of Public Safety arrested a Lubbock woman for driving while intoxicated with a 10-year-old child in the vehicle in Angelina County Friday night.

Willie Mae Rodriguez, 34, was traveling eastbound on Highway 103 West when DPS stopped her at 10:44 P.M.

After completing a field sobriety test, it was determined that Rodriguez was intoxicated and taken into custody.

While at the scene, the child passenger informed the Trooper that Rodriguez had stopped to let another child out of the vehicle before being stopped in Angelina County.

Additional officers were called in to immediately search for the child.

The Houston county Sheriff’s Office notified DPS that the second child, a 12-year-old, had been safely located in Houston County near Kennard.

Rodriguez was taken to the Angelina County Jail and has been charged with a state jail felony of Driving While under the Influence with a Child Passenger under the age of 15.

Rodriguez also faces additional charges out of Houston County.
