Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week: Stolen credit card beer run

LUFKIN, TX (News Release) - From Deep East Texas Crime Stoppers

Deep East Texas Crime Stoppers is trying to identify two men who used a stolen credit card to purchase $140 worth of beer and cigarettes.

The evening of December 08, 2015, a man from northern Illinois reported that he lost his wallet around 10 a.m. that day somewhere outside of Lufkin City Hall.  He said the wallet contained credit cards, cash, his driver's license, and insurance cards. The victim did not realize he had lost the wallet until 4 p.m. and when he checked on his credit cards he discovered they had been used to make purchases around mid-day.

The investigating detective obtained video of the fraudulent transactions at a tobacco store on South Chestnut Street in Lufkin. The video, which you can view online at and, shows two white male suspects, both wearing camouflage pattern hats, using the stolen cards to purchase two cartons of cigarettes, an 18-pack of Budweiser beer, and an individual pack of cigarettes. The suspects' vehicle is not shown in the video provided to Crime Stoppers but the suspects' friends, and even acquaintances, will be able to identify them after watching the video showing them using the cards.

Crime Stoppers will accept tips until these suspects are identified but a reward can only be paid to the first, most accurate anonymous tip received.
