Thanks to GPS, a purse containing an iPad, a cell phone, and other items stolen from a passenger at Lambert St. Louis International Airport were tracked down to a man who was sleeping in his vehicle in the back parking lot of a Nacogdoches truck stop early Monday morning, according to the arrest affidavit.

Jose Luis Sosa, 64, of Florida, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a state-jail theft between $2,500 and $30,000 charge. His bail amount was set at $7,500.

According to the arrest affidavit, NPD officers received information from the St. Louis Airport Police department that a cell phone stolen from a passenger and other items were located at the Morgan Oil Truck Stop located at 4919 NW Stallings Drive via GPS.

When the NPD officers arrived on the scene, they found Sosa asleep in a silver Chevrolet Equinox in the truck stop’s back parking lot. After they got consent to search the SUV, they found some of the victim’s stolen items in the front passenger seat, the affidavit stated.

NPD officers than made contact with the victim’s husband, who identified the items and gave their estimated values.

Sosa was arrested at the scene and taken to the county jail.
