1 suspect in custody after New Year's shooting in Trinity

TRINITY, TX (KTRE) - One suspect is now in custody following a shooting on New Year's Day in Trinity.

According to Police Chief Steven Jones, 19 year-old Trevion Williams was arrested in Huntsville and is being charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Jones said two men, 19 and 20, of Trinity, were hospitalized for gunshot wounds after a shooting at Club Kroxx-D-Trakx (Old Charlie Mae's) on New Year's Day. One of the men was flown by helicopter to a regional hospital.

"They had a B.Y.O.B. event and then also gave free beer inside after you paid," Jones said. "We talked to TABC and said we were concerned. They said it was allowed for what they wanted."

Jones said the department is currently working with the city to try to get these types of events from not being allowed in the city.

Williams is also wanted in an attempted murder in Louisiana and another violent crime in Huntsville.

"We do know that there are hundreds of eye witnesses and potential witnesses that nobody is speaking up," Jones said. "There are a handful of people that are cooperating or giving information. Everybody else thinks its a game."

Police say the shooting is under investigation. If you have any information, you are asked to contact the Trinity Police Department at (903)594-2505.
