JASPER, TX (KTRE) -

Authorities in Jasper believe that a house fire on Action Street that occurred on New Year's Eve was the result of arson.

Jasper Police Detective Garrett Foster said Tuesday that a home on 868 Action St. was set on fire by a woman from DeRidder, Louisiana. This happened around noon on December 31st.

The Jasper Fire Department responded to the scene.

A neighbor said she saw a small black woman in a gold car standing in front of the residence Foster said.

Foster spoke with the home owner, Hannah McMickell, and she said the woman is the former girlfriend of her ex-boyfriend. The woman allegedly broke into the house, took a picture, and then set it on fire.

Foster said the suspect and  McMickell exchanged angry messages on social media days prior to the arson.

According to Foster, the suspect sent a text message to McMickell saying, "I burnt your b---- house down."

Foster is getting a warrant for the arrest of the woman, She is being charged with two felonies, arson and burglary of a habitation.
