LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the Lufkin Maintenance Office is refurbishing and upgrading a road in Lufkin.

TxDOT spokeswoman Rhonda Oaks said the part of loop 287 that passes under the railroad bridge near Highway 69 north was being worked on by crews. Oaks said the work was a scheduled mil and inlay operation and is not related to the train derailment in December.

David Perkins with the Angelina and Neches River Railroad said there are no new updates to the removal of the remaining rail cars that were blown over by strong straight line winds.
