CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - Crockett police have arrested a woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend and beating him with a flashlight during an argument.
Kanika Jenkins, 40, of Crockett, is charged with first-degree aggravated assault with a weapon.
According to an arrest affidavit, a Crockett police officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of Redbud Street on Dec. 30, in reference to an assault from the night before.
The officer reported he was meth at the door by a man who said he and his girlfriend, Jenkins, got into an argument about her son and his Social Security check. He said he tried to leave the living room and Jenkins followed him into the bedroom and said she was going to kill him.
She then started swinging a large kitchen knife around and stabbed her boyfriend in the left forearm, according to the affidavit.
The man said Jenkins then pushed him onto the bed and began striking him in the face and head with a flashlight several times. The boyfriend had several severe bruises on his face and his right eye was closed due to the swelling.
The boyfriend said he did not call the night before because Jenkins left the home and he fell asleep due to the injuries.
The boyfriend was treated at a Crockett hospital and then released.
Chief David Cross said they arrested Jenkins on Wednesday without incident.
