CHEROKEE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Wells man accused of setting fire in his home in October while his wife and two children were sleeping in an adjacent room.

Kevin Wayne Budro, 30, is charged with second-degree arson and state-jail felony endangering a child.

According to an arrest affidavit, the fire was started in the 6600 block of FM 1247 on October 19.

The affidavit states Budro told first responders that the fire started in the master bedroom and was caused by a faulty electrical outlet, which ignited a laundry basket containing clothes.

According to the affidavit, an investigation revealed burnt cardboard was found among the clothes in the laundry basket and the basket was too far from the outlet reported to have caused the fire.

According to Budro's wife's Facebook page, Budro was flown to a Houston hospital to be treated for injuries to his throat and lungs.

Budro was arrested on the charge on Dec. 31. He has posted a $20,000 bond.

Budro was the subject of a KTRE story in March, when he said he was the victim of a home invasion. Budro said he shot at one man and was cut by a second.
