$700M jackpot brings more business to Lufkin store

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Thursday East Texans were taking full advantage for a second chance to become a multi-millionaire. The Powerball Jackpot has now risen to $700 million, which is the largest Jackpot of any lottery game in U-S history.

Since no one won last night's big drawing, hundreds of East Texans came to the Crown Colony Food Mart hoping that they're buying the winning ticket.

"We've had lines to the back of the store," Alazia Hannah, Crown Colony Food Mart cashier said.

The Crown Colony Food Mart has been a revolving door since the stakes have been raised in the Powerball Jackpot.

"We've had like several people come in here and buy straight Powerball," Hannah said. "We barely get any other lottery drawings. Everybody is focused on the Powerball because it's so high right now."

Although the odds of winning the Powerball are slim, some East Texans are keeping hope alive.

"I'll probably have a better chance," Redia Richards, Powerball player said.

"Well it was at $500 million last night, yeah that's a lot of money," Tobie Cook, Powerball player said

"When I win, don't look for me I'll look for you," Bennie Martin Sr said.

Some faithful lottery players believe the second times the charm.

"I just played it last night, didn't win anything, and I'm going to play it again," Richards said.

"I am feeling lucky because I never win anything really and I won $12 for just having the Powerball number," Cook said. "I have a good chance just as good as anybody does."

Since tickets are only two dollars, many see it as the perfect opportunity to buy multiple tickets.

"I'll probably purchase about four," Richards said.

"I bought five," Jase White, Powerball player said.

So how would they spend their millions?

"I'd move to the keys, on the beach and have a Corona every day," Cook said.

"I would help a lot of my kin people who really need some help," Richards said.

"I'd probably buy me a six door crew cab dually, because it's always the truck that I wanted," White said. "I'd donate a lot to the ALS association."

"I'd give it to people that need it," Martin said.

Everyone will learn their fate January 9, 2016 when the Powerball numbers are revealed.

"Good luck to you," Richards said.

"Good luck to everybody," Hannah said.

The numbers drawn Wednesday night were 2, 11, 47, 62, and 63.
