LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin man has pleaded guilty in connection to allegations of a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.
Sean Michael Wood, 25, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of injury to a child, at the request of the victim's family, according to prosecuting attorney Katrina Carswell. He agreed to serve a 10-year probation sentence and must register as a sex offender during that time only.
Carswell said the victim's family asked for this lesser charge so his life would not be ruined.
According to a previous report, the alleged victim's mother contacted the sheriff's office on Feb. 12, 2015, and said she found inappropriate text messages between her daughter and Wood on her daughter's computer.
On Feb. 24, a detective interviewed the girl, who said she and Wood had sex on two occasions, but could not again after her mother discovered the text messages.
