LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Dozens of volunteers braved the Lufkin chilly air Saturday morning, to give a warm blanket and meal to some people who could really use it.
Mission Texas prepared 250 plates of food, and volunteers handed out blankets and clothes, too.
Scott Foster, who started the monthly give-away, said a mentor gave him the idea about 14 years ago while he was feeding people in the Houston area.
"You do what you're supposed to do," Foster said. "To whom much is given, much is required. We have an obligation in our community and to brothers and sisters in Christ. We have a responsibility to take care of them."
If you'd like to help, Mission Texas host feedings every second Saturday of the month. The group meets Brandon Park in Lufkin.
