After a long career in law enforcement and public service, Houston County Emergency Management Coordinator David Lamb will call it quits next month.

Lamb has held the position for the last 18 years. Before the position, Lamb worked for TDCJ, Crockett Police and the Pasadena, TX police department. Lamb's last day will be Feb 19. At Tuesday's Houston County Commissioners Court meeting, Judge Erin Ford asked the commissioners to consider splitting the new decision and have two people handle the job of emergency management coordinator and fire marshal.

"Mr. Lamb is uni,que because he is able to meet the very different qualifications for both jobs," Ford told the court.

Ford said the city of Crockett said they could step up and help with fire investigations.

The move was not passed by commissioners so it is unclear at this time how the position will be listed.
