LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Hudson Hornet Jesse Cravy signed Wednesday to play baseball at Angelina College. He signed at the Bud Maddox Baseball Softball Academy, a special place Cravy said developed him into who he is today.
The right handed pitcher is a three-year letter winner for the Hornets who's topped out throwing 92 mph.
Cravy said he's had his eye on going to Angelina College for a while now. He said being close to home was a plus and he wanted to have his family at the games.
"Coach Livin showed me a lot of love and I just love everything about him. Coach Bud had a lot to do with this. He's always helping me with what to do and always telling me what's right in your heart is just what's right. Everything about AC is right," said Cravy.
It was a number of things that impressed Angelina College head baseball coach Jeff Livin about Cravy, and most of it steamed from who Cravy is off the field.
"The way he conducts himself, he's been around Bud, he's been given a lot of responsibility, who he is and how he handles himself on top of the abilities, which are pretty self-evident, but he's a heck of a kid," said Livin.
Head Coach Livin went on to say his expectations are pretty high for Cravy. He'd like Cravy to be one of the starting arms next year on the mound.
